Yang Family Hidden Tradition was introduced to New York City and the YMCA by Robert Politzer in 1994. Robert learned from years of study with Wang Yen-nien, Fourth Generation Master of Yangjia Michuan Taijquan. This blog/website is about the history of the New York City group and the continuous journey that it has been on for thirty one years.
The New York Yangjia Michuan classes are taught at the West Side YMCA in New York City and we are grateful for the support they continue to provide. Robert Politzer has also arranged workshops and other events for national and international participation. In 1996 we hosted a teaching workshop with Wang Yen-nien which took place at the West Side YMCA and at Mercy College. Robert has also helped to organize two international workshops that took place at Bakers Camp in upstate New York.
Here is the 2025 schedule of classes at the West Side YMCA, taught by Tom Campbell. Arnold Baker is the official substitute teacher and, like Ilana Scheinman, also teaches beginners in the classes.

I’m not a member of the Y. Is it possible to come visit a class before I decide if I’m going to join?
Hi Carla,
Yes you may. The Y has free passes on their web site. You can also contact one of us and we
can get you a day pass.

Hello Thomas,
I have put together a book of notes from Pushhands classes that I took with Wang laoshi in the 1990’s. There are also commentaries on the basic exercises in the book.
If there is interest I would be happy to download the book.
